South Bass Island/Put-In-Bay 2014

I guess the [BIKE] sub-header is sort of false advertising on this post due to the fact that my bike remained tucked away in the garage of our home on this trip, but it fits the context of the [BIKE] category better than the others.

Last week my wife and I joined some friends on a trip to South Bass Island to celebrate the birthday of her closest friend, Andrea. Despite the party atmosphere of the island (mainly downtown), there is a substantial amount of history associated with the Lake Erie Islands, South Bass in particular.

I'm On a Boat and...

Since the Lake Erie Islands are, well Islands the only way to get to them is by boat (or an airplane if you are into the "puddle jumper" thing), and the cheapest way to do that is the Miller Ferry.

One of the two ferry's that leave from Catawba, Ohio.

[BIKE] Brownhelm Township

Today was a cool 73 degrees out. Too cold to ride by the lake so I decided to reroute Southwest toward where I grew up, Brownhelm Township.

10.93 Miles. (Google Maps)

A Slight Change

Since the birth of Mike on a Bike the blog's purpose was to show you local places and the history of those places whilst I rode my bicycle. Today I am going to re-purpose the blog into something besides just discovering places. I want to use this blog as a general notepad for my life. The experiences I have and the people I meet. I want to share with everyone the story of a 25-year-old 911 dispatcher who is married and has a wiener dog, and the sometimes exciting, sometimes boring life that goes along with it. I will still continue to post rides, but they will now begin with [BIKE] while my other posts will begin with [LIFE]. I will also be changing the name of the blog to Lorain County Life. I hope everyone will enjoy the continued posting and feel free to leave comments!

Messing Around with Filters

Today I was bored and decided to mess with the some of the photographs I had taken from my rides. I was attempting to make them look like they were taken in a different time period. These are all photo's that I have taken and added filters to.
