Lorain County Fair 2018

It's that time of year again. The smell of grease mixed with cow manure takes me back to a simpler time. No, not the 1950's, but high school. You see, where I'm from high school started a week later than most because of the fair. A good population of our students had exhibits of some kind on display and rather than have half attendance for a week they just decided to move the school year back a little. My friends and I would go to the fair every year to enjoy our final days of freedom before Friday. You know what Friday was? You guessed it, footba....band practice.

Anyway, who would have guessed that 11 years later I would be back at the fair for our annual trip with my wife, child, sister-in-law, and niece. Here are some pictures from our busy day.

Staycation 2018 (Part 1)

We used to go on vacations and some day we will go on one again, but destination vacations are hard to do with a 1 year old with the attention span of a, well, a 1 year old. So this year we decided to do a "staycation". Sarah had to use her vacation time before the end of the month and I miraculously found a hole in my work schedule to get the week off as well. Now, when I say "staycation", what I really mean is that we stayed in the area, not that we stayed at home as you will see below. Here are some pictures of our week off and a true representation of this blog's namesake, Lorain County life.

Sunday

Sunday Sarah went with my parents to the Huron Arts Festival. I sat that one out because I had worked the night before.
