Teresa's Hooding Ceremony in Pittsburgh

Yesterday my mom, dad, Sarah and I drove to Pittsburgh where my sister lives to attend her Hooding Ceremony downtown. For those of you unaware of what a Hooding Ceremony is, it is basically graduation for a masters degree recipient. Needless to say, we are very proud. Here are a bunch of photos I took of the ceremony, reception, and the city.

Ohio City

Last Saturday my wife and I decided to take the motorcycles out to the West Side Market in Cleveland. I always wanted to visit it as I have never been there before. It was a good day for a ride. We took Route 6 to the edge of Rocky River and then cut over to Detroit Road through Lakewood and into the western edge of Cleveland.

Ohio City was created out of Brooklyn Township in 1836 and then annexed by Cleveland in 1854. People still call it Ohio City today. Ohio City is a very culturally diverse area in Cleveland and is an energetic hub of authenticity in a world that is becoming increasingly similar. The central point of Ohio City is the West Side Market. (Wikipedia)

[EXPLORE] Dodging Rain Drops

Today it was about 60 degrees out, which is definitely warm enough for a bike ride. I looked at the radar and saw that I had a pretty large gap in between rain systems. Turns out the radar was wrong and I was dodging rain drops the entire ride. Good thing I wore my hoodie. Anyway, here are a few dreary pictures from the ride.

19.75 miles.

[EXPLORE] Old Lake Road Revisited

Recently I have been able to get on my bicycle more and more. Unfortunately there has also been rain moving in every time I go out to ride, which restricts my rides to close to home locations. This means that I have to write about places I have already been and come up with new material. Luckily I am always stumbling upon new interesting facts about the area we live in. I rode about 11 miles today before the downpour began, all of which were in the subdivisions around our house, but I also took a ride up to Lake Road and remembered something I briefly touched on before, that before lake road became the four lane Rt 6 it is today, it sued to cross Beaver Creek to the south. There are even still remnants left behind today.

Current satellite image. The red line is where the old Lake Road ran and the blue dots are where my next photographs were taken. (Google Maps)
