The Cleveland Ingenuity Festival

On Saturday after my motorcycle class I decided to surprise my wife and head into Cleveland for the Ingenuity Festival. This was the first I had heard of it, but it seemed like a different kind of festival and I thought it would be interesting to check out. I didn't know what to expect (and neither did my wife considering I didn't tell her what we were doing).

Also I apologize for the low quality pictures. Phone cameras are terrible at night.

We were greeted by this giant killer robot. Already looked promising.
As we moved into the festival we began to realize what it was all about. It consisted of local merchants looking to sell their homemade products to the masses, which is awesome. I enjoy locally made items, and my wife enjoys them even more.

Homemade products like those of these fine gentlemen. Look! Bongs!
The merchant area. The ship in the background is the decommissioned William G. Mather, a 1925 freighter that is now open for tours.
Some of the shops were set up in containers.
Once we (Sarah) were done shopping we moved over to the part of the docks behind the Science Center and discovered some ingenuity!

Like this flame sculpture powered by bicycles.
A terribly lit Sarah on the bike.
And these light-up hoola-hoopers.
Or this 3-D printed, solar-powered, light-up pavilion.
A side show of sorts.
And this duo.
After exploring some of the ingenuity at the Ingenuity Festival we headed back to the main area to try to scrounge up some food....

...Then when we realized our options were mostly of the vegan nature, we decided to pass and made our way into this giant warehouse with a rock band playing inside.

The band from afar.
Crazy art wall in the warehouse.
Closer shot of the band known as "Hank and Cupcake".
Then we moved back outside to a marked off area that everyone was gathered around. A show was about to begin. The show was called "The Tesla Orchestra".

Two giant Tesla Coils.
The coils shot electricity at the nearby metal rods and made different noises as it did so, producing music.
Then there was this crazy guy wearing chain-mail and swinging sticks that lit up as the electricity hit them.
The electricity striking the chain-mail guy. It was awesome!
There was also this part where the chain-mail guy carried a giant helium balloon in between the coils. The balloon promptly exploded. It could not be captured in a picture, but lucky for you I have video evidence.

After the show finished we left the festival. It was definitely a very unique and enjoyable experience. I definitely would like to go back next year.

Thanks for reading!
