South Bass Island (Part 2)

We last left off finally having found a golf cart to fit our needs (albeit slightly larger than required). We then proceeded to the more residential side of the island first, ending up at the north tip.

Teresa and Sarah meditating or something.
Dad by a house.
Mom.
They always change the paiinting on these cement blocks. Now it reads "Don't give up the ship!" The line allegedly spoken by Commodore Perry to his men before leaving his crippled flagship, the Lawrence to board another ship, the Niagara to finish the Battle of Lake Erie.
Another meaningful stenciling of Bob Ross.
Wide angle selfie!
The limo.
After we looked at the lake, pondered the meaning of life, and walked the beach for a few minutes we returned to our trusty golf cart to continue our journey around the island.

Neat car we passed. The reason the picture is so clear is because the top speed on Put-In-Bay golf carts is like 3 mph.
Cabins in the state park.
Some tents with the lake in the background.
Ruins of the swimming pool from the Hotel Victory. The only part of the hotel that remains from the fire in 1919.
Entrance to the hotel back in the early 1900's. You can see a street car in the foreground.
A nature center we almost visited, but then realized there was a cover charge. Back to the cart!
South Bass Island Lighthouse marker.
....and the other side.
The lighthouse was built in 1897 and was one of the first to incorporate the keepers house into the same structure.
The out building and oil house.
The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1962 after it was taken over by the Coast Guard and the ugly metal tower/automated beacon was erected.
Coming up next in part 3 we visit a couple wineries and then head back downtown.

To be continued...
