[EXPLORE] Lake Thaw

Although I have ridden my bicycle two other times this year, and I normally post on the first ride, I did not because it was too cold and I didn't take any pictures. Today was the first decent ride of the year. It was a balmy 49 degrees out and although the wind speed was 18 mph (mostly in my face), a hoodie and shorts sufficed.

11.94 miles. (Google Maps)

Even the lake is almost thawed and it is beginning to actually look and feel like springtime. Today while on my ride I stopped at the Beaver Creek Marina to survey the state of the lake ice, and for the most part it had dissipated.

As you can see the ice has been thawing rather quickly, mainly due to the drastic increase in temperatures, and today there wasn't much left on the southern shore.

Just big enough for Buddy the Elf to go find his dad on.
Anyway I thought that since I purchased a motorcycle I would not enjoy riding the bicycle as much, but that couldn't have been farther from the truth. There is something about the simplicity of leg power that still makes it a joy to ride, gives you a sense of accomplishment. I am really looking forward to this year on two wheels, with and without the motor.

Thanks for reading!
