Hockey, Cars, and Bars

This weekend my wife and I were invited to a couple of events. The first event was a Lake Erie Monsters hockey game (which I had never been to), and the second was the Piston Power Show at the IX Center.
Saturday

On Saturday we met up with our friends Alex and Andrea and headed to the RTA station on Brookpark Road. This is the first time I rode on the RTA since middle school.

Rounding the corner heading toward Tower City.
I am not a huge hockey fan, in fact I am not much of a fan of any sport that isn't one of the main 3 in the United States (baseball, football or basketball), but I quiet enjoyed the Monsters game, and they won!

After that we headed back to the RTA, and then ultimately back to Alex and Andrea's house. We then drove to Wolfie's Pub in Elyria for some much needed R and R. They had a live band, that wasn't half bad either.

It was packed, but we still had a good time. The food was great, the beer is always good, and the music made it a perfect end to a great day.

The band!

Sunday

On Sunday Sarah and I headed out to Olmsted falls and met up with Travis, Elizabeth, Bob, and Amy. We then went to the IX Center for the Piston Power Show, which is basically a show that takes up the whole building and includes boats, cars, airplanes, motorcycles, and campers. It was a lot of fun, with a lot of exciting things to look at.

The "Old Man's" car from "A Christmas Story".
A P-51 Mustang.

New ride for "Mike on a Bike".
After we were done wandering around the show (and snagging some delicious jerky in the process) we headed over to Fat Head's Brewery in North Olmsted. It was my first time there and it was really good. I recommend the "Bay of Pigs" sandwich (a Cuban on steroids) and also the "Alpenglow" Weizenbock style beer.

Once we sufficiently stuffed ourselves we returned to Travis and Elizabeth's apartment, where the remainder of the evening was spent. It was a good weekend.

Thanks for reading!
