[EXPLORE] Vermilion Public Restrooms

Yes, you read the title right, and yes this ties in to both exploring and a 911 story. Before we get into the two stories I have regarding the restrooms, here is the current picture.

Lovely.
Now lets take a look at the same building in the 1950's...

As you can see in the above photograph there are a few things going on. The far building is the current public restrooms. As you can see in the photo in the 1950's it was the police station and the local community was not to happy about there occupation of that building, why? As it turns out, the building was built in 1912 and was actually a restroom before the police took up residency. The only problem was that the public restrooms were not replaced and someone who apparently was quite peeved about this placed what appears to be an old rail stop shack on the property with public restroom signage and "Vote for this ,we need this." written on the side.

Another angle of the shack.
Although I don't know the whole story and most of what I am getting comes from the Vermilion Facebook group I do know that eventually the police moved into the public library and the fine people of Vermilion regained their public restrooms. Eventually the police also got their own building.

Now we get a lot of strange calls at 911, and some of them we just can't wrap our minds around what the caller was thinking when placing the call. A couple weeks ago a coworker of mine received a 911 call from a frantic caller stating that the men's stall was clogged and was about to overflow. Can you guess which restroom it was? Can you guess which police department we forwarded the frantic caller to? I guess you could say that the Vermilion Police Department returned home.

Also, pedal foot...
Thanks for reading.
