Wedding Anniversary at Pier W

What better topic for my 100th post? On Tuesday Sarah and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary. After scouring the local area for the perfect place to take her I had finally found it, and it appeared to be a hit.

Located on the eastern edge of Lakewood on a cliff overlooking the lake is Pier W, a restaurant specializing in seafood and other upscale cuisine. We don't normally frequent restaurants of this nature, but every year we do make an exception for our anniversary. Last year she picked MIX when we went to Las Vegas.

Pier W was built in 1965 and is somewhat of an engineering marvel, at least in my opinion. The entirety of the restaurant sits below ground level and hangs off the cliff. The only visible part of the restaurant it the open top that looks like a small park and the elevator leading down to the dining room and bar.

I apologize in advance for the quality of these pictures. My cell phone doesn't take the best low light photographs.

Going down....
Bottom of the elevator. Looking good already.
After being lowered down to our dining destination we were greeted and led to our table. Before I even finished asking "can we have a windo..." the server already had us seated with the perfect view.

Cleveland from our table.

We both settled on the crab cakes for an appetizer and a half bottle of a California Riesling. There were only two crab cakes, but what the dish lacked in quantity it certainly made up for in quality. We then picked out our meals. Sarah had the Cajun pasta with shrimp and sea scallops. It was extremely good and spicy. I had the crab stuffed shrimp with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Also very good. We are good sharers. For dessert Sarah got the sorbet and I got the creme brulee which were also shared.

Pier W was a very memorable place for our second anniversary and I'm sure some day in the future we will end up returning. Also I would like to say thanks to everyone who is still reading this blog after 100 posts, mainly my wife who told me the other night " I like your blog, it is the most real thing that you have written."

Thanks for reading and Happy Anniversary, Sarah!
