Niagara Falls (Part 2)

On the second day in Ontario we got up around 8:30 am (too early) and proceeded downstairs for breakfast, which was amazing and three courses long!

Saturday

Fancy fancy.
After we were done with breakfast we headed back to our room to change into actual clothing and move along with our day. The first stop was the Niagara Falls History Museum. Outside in the back parking lot there was a small market taking place. We did not realize this going in, but it was Canada's Thanksgiving weekend and a lot of special events were taking place.

Farmer's market.

War of 1812 Exhibit.
Wife and stuff.
"Pew pew pew."
Me with an old gun and then in a barrel...things escalated.

The "tightrope". Neither of us were very good.
After we toured the museum it was time to make our way back into the good old USA to take our ride on the "Maid of the Mist" boat. Before we climbed aboard we checked out the American Falls from the park.

It was pretty loud up there.
Almost got the falls in that picture...almost.
A better way to take the picture.

The power of the falls combined with the changing color of the leaves on the trees made for an awe inspiring view. The rapids leading to the falls were pretty amazing as well.

We then moved up to the observation deck provided by the Maid of the Mist and checked out the view from there. It did not disappoint.

The Rainbow Bridge connecting the United States to Canada.
Uh, scary.
Down to the boat!
Ready to get wet.
Batten down the hatches!

In the 1970's a 7 year old boy fell over the falls with only a life jacket and survived. The Maid of the Mist rescued him.
Woo! History!
After our fun and wet experience we got back in the car and drove about 15 minutes (after misreading the navigation and going the wrong way on a toll road) to a restaurant called the Griffon Gastropub. It was delicious and may have been my favorite meal of the trip.

Beer!
I had the french dip sandwich and awesome mac n' cheese. Sarah had a chicken and waffle sandwich with sweet potato fries....mmmm.
But alas, our time as American tourists in America were at a close. It was time to make our way back north into the land of Canada to get up close and personal with the other side of the falls, that is after we crossed the border again.

Ugh...and I had to pee.
To be continued.
