Niagara Falls (Part 3)
After finally getting back over the border (and using the restroom) we parked and walked over to the Canadian (or Horseshoe) Falls.
Saturday (still)
Old power station up river from the falls.
Back of the power station.
Downtown Niagara Falls.
What is this thing?
Interesting.
If you were in a boat you would not want to be here.
The Canadian portion of Niagara Falls. Better, eh?
Looks like it doesn't end.
Sarah overlooking the falls from "Table Rock". Now more of a gimmick, at one point in time there was a flat rock that jutted out toward the falls from here.
People used to come from all over to look over the edge of the rock. After numerous collapses the remaining portion of Table Rock was blasted in 1935 due to safety concerns.
Once we were done observing the falls from above we decided to once again get the lower perspective, but this time we were going underground. For a nominal fee you can "Journey Behind the Falls" and explore a tunnel that extends to the middle of the falls with portholes looking out.
They come in yellow this time.
The original European explorers found a natural tunnel leading behind the falls. One of the first hotel owners in the area built some stairs leading down to this tunnel from his building and charged a fee for tourists to check it out.
Sometime in the 1940's the tunnels were expanded and fortified with steel and concrete. Portholes looking out at the falls were also built. You could just feel the power of the falls when you got close to the edge.
After we checked out what it was like behind the falls it was time to head back to our home away from home and change for our fancy diner. On every trip we take we always find a restaurant to get dressed up and go to. This time it was a restaurant called Sandstone Grillhouse and it came highly recommended. Since I do not believe in being on you phone in fancy restaurants (I probably shouldn't be on it in any) I do not have any pictures of the place. You're going to have to trust me on this one.
Here is what we looked like. Proof enough? No? Well fine, be that way.
After the dinner we headed over to the casino, because why not? We had set aside a small amount of money and of course we lost all of it. That's what casinos are for right? We wouldn't know any different.
Once again, no pictures inside (a lot of trusting in this post).
This finished off our second day at Niagara Falls, and boy was it a doozy. We proceeded back to our semi-home (after narrowly avoiding a ticket for illegally parking) and passed out, dreaming of the next days breakfast. Oh, and other activities as well.
