Motorcycle Trip to Virginia (Part 3)

We woke up a little later on day 3 of our trip because we were sticking around the area and could do whatever we pleased. We had an itinerary made up before we left, but it was mostly thrown out the window once we got down to Virginia because of some "slight" miscalculations. The good news is that we got breakfast today.

Our teepee window in the morning.
We also had a bed in the teepee just like the Native Americans would have had. Yup, exact reproduction with remote and all. Pardon the mess.

Native American Keurig.

Our front yard.

The property owners are in the process of turning this 100 year old barn into their house. The small protrusion on the rear of the building is our bathroom/shower. It is totally separate from the house.

The shower.

These goats lived down the hill from us.

This is Maggie.

Their "halfling" horses...

...and alpacas. They also had chickens, 4 more dogs, a guinea hen and two humans.

This Russian Ural with a sidecar rig was a recent project of Jeremiah's (Homeowner). He uses it around the farm.

I love that thing, and Sarah is there too!

After touring the farm we headed into Lexington, VA to check out the sights and some history. I have never been somewhere with such old architecture (besides Washington DC, but that was in high school and doesn't count).

This is where we had breakfast.

I had the french toast and Sarah got pancakes. (Not pictured: pancakes and french toast)

After breakfast and shopping we toured "Stonewall" Jackson's house.

Proof.

Lexington was a great place with so much history. Some of the structures here are 100 years older than the oldest buildings from where we're from.

Once we were all Lexington-ed out we hopped back on our motorcycles and rode to the Rockbridge Vineyard about a half hour away, getting lost only once.

Day 3 was nice and relaxing. We did not have to push ourselves and no matter where we ended up we were already at our destination. After the winery we headed back to the teepee and started another fire. Shortly afterward Sarah headed to bed. I stayed up a while longer looking up at stars that shone brighter than any I had ever seen before. The next day was our final day in Virginia and I just wasn't ready to leave yet.

Goodnight teepee.

To be continued.
