McLaughlin Distillery

One of my birthday gifts from Sarah was a Groupon for a tour of the McLaughlin Distillery in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. We had been so busy recently that we almost forgot to use it. Luckily we received an email reminding us of the expiration. So on Sunday we decided to take a little road trip to PA to check it out.

Elizabeth and I took a selfie while waiting for Sarah.
I for some reason forgot to take a picture of the lobby area, but here are some from the tour.
Kim (owner) held Elizabeth during the tour and she was completely content. (We forgot the stroller and she was being a little bit rambunctious)
The beginning stages of moonshine, or possibly bourbon. I did not realize that they were actually the same thing, except you put bourbon in barrels to get color and flavoring.
Kim's stills, Delores and Gladice.
Kim showing us how he makes his own barrels and Elizabeth assisting.
He has barrels named for his grandchildren and when they turn 21 they will open them. He also does this for customers.
The "mirror" in the bathroom.
Family picture on the way out with our loot.
I bet you can take a guess at who bought what.
A night cap in the Blind Manatee.
And look! It was bottled on my birthday. (Yes I know the 18 is probably the year...)

Thanks for reading!
