[EXPLORE] Lorain International Festival

Yesterday we had a couple of hours to kill before going over to Sarah's Aunt's house for her grandfather's 80th birthday party so we decided to head down to the Lorain International Festival. The festival has been taking place for 49 years now and represents the 70 different nationalities that reside in Lorain, the International City. Every year they place a spotlight on a different nationality and this year it was African American. Here are some pictures from the festival.

National flags in from of city hall.

Lorain High drum line in Washington Park.
Chinese (I believe, don't kill me) dancers under the pavilion.

Crowded, but not "I can't move" crowded.
Food vendors from all the different nationalities.
Inside the main building at Black River Landing they had crafts created by different nationalities.
Dolls and such.
Abandoned tracks from the shipyard and steel mill age.
Sarah and I had a seat under the pavilion by the river to eat.
View of the river.
Enjoying our food. I had a Postellio* from the Puerto Rico stand and roasted almonds, and Sarah had noodles, pork, potatoes, and a milky dessert from the Philippines stand. It was all really good.
Fun fact I never knew, but makes sense. The mouth of the Black River was the last stop on the Underground Railroad. Most slaves at the time were trying to cross into Canada and ships would transport them out of Charleston (Lorain) Harbor.
It was a good time with some good food.

Thanks for reading!
