Ocean City (Part 1)

This is it. The last pre-baby trip. A Babymoon if you will. Sarah and I went to Ocean City, Maryland for our vacation this year. It was initially going to be Maine, but with Sarah's condition (pregnancy) she is unable to trek long distances on foot, so we decided to try something more appropriate. Ocean City is pretty much a long strip of beach in Maryland situated on the Atlantic Ocean. It has a large boardwalk and endless activities. The best part is that you can do things at your own pace and leisurely stroll around the area, something that both of us normally don't get to do on our trips.

We left the house around 9:30 a.m. after exchanging anniversary gifts (4 years, wahoo!) and began our long drive to Maryland. Our first stop was Pittsburgh to visit my sister Teresa and get lunch. She took us to this awesome meatball restaurant (yes, I said meatball restaurant) and then we went to get gourmet popcorn to keep our sugar levels up for the remainder of our trip.

Ready to go!
There were two festivals going on in Pittsburgh, so it was rather busy.
Wiener World!
Emporio, A Meatball Joint, mmmmm.
You can basically create your own meal, topped with meatballs of course.
I chose the standard beef meatballs with mushroom gravy over tater tots...it was amazing.
Sarah chose chicken and vegan meatballs (vegan, gross) with a ranch sauce over mac n cheese. 'Merica!
After we demolished our meatballs we made our way over to The Pittsburgh Popcorn Company to acquire some road snacks.
Teresa and Sarah (Pop!).
Teresa and I right before we left with our loot. She had to get back to work, which was conveniently right next door.
Traffic leaving the city was slightly better than coming in. Our next scheduled stop would be in Maryland for our anniversary dinner. A measly 4 hours later and we were in  Hagerstown for our annual "fancy" meal.

Pretzel and Pizza Creations.
Okay, so "fancy" might be a bit of an overstatement.
We finished chowing down on our Bavarian delights and drove on. Sarah taking over so I could snooze for a bit. When we had to fill up on gas I retook the reigns and we traveled into the night, finally reaching our destination at around 11 p.m. 14 hours on the road....whew.

We finally made it to our room at the Atlantic House Bed and Breakfast. We were both whooped and it was time to turn in.
Stay tuned for the continuation of this adventure.
